What is a Patio Door?

An exterior patio door is a door that opens to your patio or deck, usually to the backyard or balcony. Security is of the utmost importance when it comes to exterior doors, so you’ll want to make sure the installation is proper and that you can trust the manufacturing brand. We partner with trusted patio door manufacturers, like: Pella and Provia to ensure they stand up against outside variables and protect your family.

Not only does the quality of the door manufacturer matter, but the materials used as well. Here at Home Path Windows & Doors, we offer three different material options to suit your needs:

  • Wood
  • Fiberglass
  • Vinyl

Patio Door Materials

Learn more about each material type to better decide which is best for your home.
Wood Patio Door – Wood is a classic, yet versatile option for your patio doors, providing any elegant style to your home while also ensuring brute strength. Wood patio doors can be a little more expensive than other materials, but makes up for it in character and beauty. In addition, wood patio doors are naturally energy efficient and can help you save on your heating/cooling bill.
Fiberglass Patio Door – Fiberglass might not be the first material you think of when you think patio door, but it should be added to the list. Fiberglass patio doors are lightweight and highly energy efficient, so they can last a long time and save you tons on your heating/cooling bill. These doors can also be customized to the style you want. Fiberglass can even be made to look like a real wood door.
Vinyl Patio Door – It’s no surprise that vinyl is often used in home projects (including patio doors). Vinyl is affordable, durable, energy efficient, and customizable; saving you money in the short-term and in the long-term. In addition, if you want to match your patio door perfectly to your home’s trim, vinyl might be the answer for you!
